Michelle Poonawalla’s painted sculpture of a tiger was unveiled as part of #Waghoba200, the bicentennial of the last sighting of a tiger on the erstwhile Bombay Island at Gowalia Tank. The tiger was unveiled by Maharashtra’s tourism and environment minister Shri Aaditya Thackeray. The artwork addressed the endangered Tiger and school children from a local Mumbai school were informed about the importance of celebrating the tiger while they painted their versions of the animal. The initiative was in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Bombay Natural History Society, Kids for Tiger, Dr Raju Kastambe & Bittu Sahgal, environmental activist, writer, and the founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation.
