In 2017 Michelle Poonawalla took part in an initiative by Delhi-based NGO Khushii. The project teamed up some of the biggest names from the corporate, sporting and film worlds to work with leading Indian artists and create new works which were auctioned in Delhi in support of the NGO.
Michelle Poonawalla partnered with Khushii chairperson, and former cricketer Kapil Dev, to create a new work from her butterfly series. Talking about the project Kapil Dev said “When I look at art, I don’t like to go by the name of its creator. If an artwork gives me happiness, I like it. For us, it’s important to generate as much money as we can because the amount goes to charity for young boys and girls.”
Alongside Poonawalla and Dev other participants included singer Ananya Birla, who associated with leading contemporary artist Anjolie Ela Menon; businessman Rajan Kapoor, who partnered with artist Sanjay Bhattacharya; and Shah Rukh Khan who worked with artist Paresh Maity.
