Desert Rose represents beauty and nature. The work is made up of butterflies, a motif synonymous with Poonawalla’s practice that amongst other things represents beauty and freedom – an ephemeral creature that is the result of a metamorphosis. In producing the work Poonawalla allowed the butterflies to fall naturally on the work, each one placed where it landed reflecting the beauty of nature’s patterns.
